Amanda's Boudoir Session

“I really had to think hard about how to express in words what this experience was and is because it lasts long after the photoshoot. Firstly, there is nothing to worry about. And I say that as an anxious person with a less than perfect view of herself. The very best compliment I can give Debbie is she makes you feel safe. Safe from judgement and safe from your own inner critic. You will not leave the same person. There is no one better or more equipped to shepherd women through self doubt and anxiety. She will make you feel like a movie star and her best friend. There is no one else like her.”

As a woman myself (especially being plus-size), I understand how essential it is for you as my client to feel safe and without judgement. And as your Boudoir photographer, my highest priority is ensuring you feel completely comfortable - from the moment we connect, to your Boudoir session, to receiving your beautiful images. The more comfortable you are, the more your confidence will grow during your photoshoot.

I've photographed well over 200 women now of all shapes and sizes and I promise every human is uniquely beautiful and worthy of being documented.

From providing you with privacy to change outfits, giving you full control over whether any of your images are publicly shared or not, helping you into tricky outfits (I've hooked many, many stockings to suspender belts!), to giving you lots of encouragement and positive feedback - my aim is always to empower you to feel confident by feeling as safe, comfortable and looked after as possible.

How did you feel when you saw your images for the first time?

"Honestly I felt quite emotional and proud. I remember seeing my wedding pictures for the first time and completely hating them because all I remember is how uncomfortable I was, how tired I was and how much I didn't enjoy the process. This was the polar opposite. When you have someone who makes you feel so comfortable to be that vulnerable you look at the pictures in a completely different way because you remember how good you felt. That's the power of Debbie and what she does. It's not just her extraordinary talent, it's who she is as a person and the energy she puts out into the world and that translates into your pictures."

What prompted you to book a Boudoir session with Emerald Photography?

"I had wanted to book for so long and I let the noise in my own head get the best of me, then I was in a car accident so I took it as a sign from the universe to make the moves towards the things I wanted. And this was right at the top!"

Tell us a little about yourself and your relationship with your body

“Based in Glasgow and 33 at the time of my photoshoot. I've always been on the plus size end of the clothing spectrum and then after various lockdowns and a terrible break up I was a lot more plus size than I had been before and just felt very lost. I felt I'd lost a lot of my identity in lockdown and it's taken a good long time to get back to someone I recognise. I wanted to book the photoshoot originally because it looked so much fun but my own inner voice made me feel unworthy and like spending that amount of money on myself was entirely self indulgent and wasteful almost. I don't think I fully appreciated how it would impact me. You will feel altered, and you will want to harness what Debbie draws out of you in day to day life. That's what I hope for. I hope to take with me through the days where I'm not particularly polished and I'm too tired to try. It's hilarious that a photoshoot that on the surface seems to be all about how you look has such a profound effect on the things no one sees. You will never regret doing this. Find the money. Save up. Your inner self deserves it.”
